Setup & workstation binding

Purpose: Sign in to the handheld app and bind the device to a workstation so it can take payments.

When to use this: Setting up a new handheld, or moving one to a different workstation.

Sign in

  1. Open the Vitabyte app.
  2. On the Login screen, enter your Email and Password and tap Login.

Bind to a workstation

After you sign in, the app shows Select Workstation.

  1. Find the workstation this device should use. Each one shows its status:
    • This Device: already bound to the handheld you're holding.
    • In Use: bound to a different device. You'll need to unlink it there first, or pick another.
    • No badge, available to bind.
  2. Tap the workstation, then tap Confirm. The button shows Linking… while it binds.

If the list is empty

If you see No workstations available, the workstation configs haven't been set up yet in the cloud. Set them up first, see Cloud · Provisioning configs, then pull the list again.

"Already bound to another device"

If binding fails because the workstation is already bound elsewhere, unlink it from that device first, or choose a different workstation.

Switch, reload, or sign out later

These live in Device Settings, not on the bind screen. Open Device Settings with the unlock gesture, then:

  • Switch Workstation: bind to a different one.
  • Reload: pull the latest config for the current workstation.
  • Logout: sign out of the app.

Verify

  • The bound workstation shows the This Device badge.
  • The header in Device Settings shows the bound Workstation name and the device IP.
  • A small test sale completes and returns Transaction Approved!.
